Thomas M. Curtis, CPA - President

Tom Curtis is founder and president of Reimbursement Solutions, LLC and The Curtis Group, Inc. Mr. Curtis is a nationally recognized consultant specializing in Medicare and Medicaid Reimbursement. Prior to founding his own company in 1997, Mr. Curtis was a Regional Audit Manager for a Medicare fiscal intermediary, Health Care Service Corporation ("HCSC"), with audit and reimbursement responsibilities for hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies (1981-1997).  Since HCSC acted as the Regional Home Health Intermediary for the states of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, and the Hospital Intermediary for Illinois and Michigan, Mr. Curtis was responsible for audits and settlements of thousands of Medicare cost reports.  Mr. Curtis served as HCSC’s representative at numerous CMS conferences.  In addition, Mr. Curtis acted as the audit liaison with HCSC’s fraud department.  In this capacity, Mr. Curtis was involved in active investigations as well as various fraud education programs including participating as an instructor at two FBI healthcare fraud-training seminars.

Mr. Curtis is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, and the Health Care Financial Management Association ("HFMA").  For HFMA, Mr. Curtis has held numerous leadership positions at both the local and national level, including being a founding member of HFMA’s Compliance Forum. Mr. Curtis was also selected as one of only eight people chosen to be certified trainers for HFMA’s compliance education company, Learning Solutions.  In this capacity, Mr. Curtis has taught healthcare compliance to hospitals throughout the nation. Mr. Curtis also hold a memberships in The American Health Lawyers Association.

Mr. Curtis’ current clients include health care systems, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, volunteer nurse associations, and several for-profit and non-profit home health agencies as well as hospice organizations. Mr. Curtis’ service to his clients has included Payment Recovery projects, which has helped his clients recovery millions of dollars in lost funds, both DSH and Medicare Bad Debts. Mr. Curtis’s firm was also retained by the United Stated District Court – Central Illinois District as the court appointed receiver in a substantial Health Care fraud billing case.

Mr. Curtis formed Reimbursement Solutions, LLC to serve the outsourced reimbursement needs of Franciscan Missionary of Our Lady Health System located in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Reimbursement Solutions, LLC’s mission is to provide high quality reimbursement services to clients at a reasonable cost.
